First Symposium of the Agricultural and Food Group of Universidade de Vigo

The Faculty of Sciences of the Ourense campus hosted the first symposium of the Agro-environmental and Agricultural and Food Research Group (AA1) of the University of Vigo. This event aims to become an annual meeting for the group’s predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers to present and share their scientific advances. The symposium constitutes a platform to disseminate the lines of research developed around the food chain, from production to consumption, addressing key issues such as food quality and safety.

The AA1 Group is made up of a multidisciplinary team of almost 50 researchers and focuses on improving agri-food production and its alignment with international regulations. With facilities in Ourense and Vigo, the group leads several research projects, including five European ones. The symposium brought together 25 researchers who are developing their theses in various areas such as terrestrial ecosystems, food science and technology, and water sustainability. The event was notable for its diversity, with international participation, especially from China, North Africa and Latin America. It also allowed for an enriching exchange of knowledge and experiences among the participants.
